K800i Bluetooth cradle for BMW

Filed under: Bluetooth, Bluetooth cradle, BMW, Sony Ericsson K800i — Howard @ 6:46 pm

After a long wait BMW have released the Bluetooth cradle for the Sony Ericsson K800i phone.

Installation is easy, especially if you know you have to remove the antenna cover from the front of the K800i (a small black rubber button to the right of the flash unit).

The cradle has a fixed antenna connector precisely positioned to dock with the exposed socket on the phone.

And the phone slides in easily. The cradle charges the phone and improves reception hugely on hands-free calls.

  1. I’ve been looking for this for over a year. The unfortunate thing is, my K800i will be due for an upgrade soon – so I’m not sure what I’ll choose to do.

Did you buy yours direct from BMW? How much was it? Which BMW do you have? So far, I connect my phone via Bluetooth to my 300Ci (03) – I only have access to my phone book on the car. I cannot send SMS messages – but it’s not a great problem.

  2. I think it was around £60 from a BMW garage. Installation was simple as the basic bluetooth set up was already there. My 800i already worked with the car’s bluetooth quite well. I have an ’04 3 series, if that helps.

If you go to http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/bluetooth/?siteID=1312 you can get more info on compatibility of different models.
