Tamron AF 28-200 F3.8-5.6 Aspherical zoom lens
I found a new lens (the Tamron AF 28-200 F3.8-5.6 Aspherical) in a recent camera sale at Oxfam, together with a close-up adaptor lens designed for it (for subjects in the range 1 – 2 m).
The top picture was taken using the close-up adaptor (1/250 s A| f/5.6 | 140 mm) and the bottom without (1/200 s | f/11 | 28 mm).
I’m pretty sure the lens is this one listed at dyxum.com (it has the Tamron name raised as a grip on the lens barrel) and I’d rate it higher than the current average of 3.15 overall. However, I do need to take some comparative pictures on different zooms to see how it really stands up.

Ensign Ful-Vue II
Another outing on eBay and this time I have found an Ensign Ful-Vue II to accompany my Selfix 420. This box camera was very popular in Britain in the post-war period, due in part no doubt to its interesting styling. The film chamber has a remarkably fresh-looking sticker exhorting the photographer to use ‘Ensign size 20 film’.
Folk America: Hollerers, Stompers & Old Time Ramblers
The final encore at last week’s Barbican concert – hosted by Seasick Steve and featuring The Wiyos, CW Stoneking, Diana Jones, Cedric Watson & Bijoux Creole, Allison Williams & Chance McCoy, most of whom were on stage here. This handheld cameraphone picture doesn’t do justice to the occasion, but this review at The Observer does.
