Minolta A5 rangefinder camera

Minolta A5 rangefinder camera | 3

First, apologies for the dust specks!

This camera dates from 1960 and is completely mechanical – there is no exposure meter and shutter speeds are driven by springs, cogs, and pulleys (I imagine).

For some reason Minolta did not use the ‘M’ logo much after this time, which is a shame. The ‘minolta 1000’ badge denotes the maximum shutter speed and distinguishes the camera from variants with a maximum speed of 1/500 s. Note also the Rokkor-TD f/2.8 45mm lens and the then name of the maker of Minolta cameras, Chiyoda Kogaku, just visible on the base of the lens.

Minolta A5 top plate

The top plate is quite simple. The exposure counter has to be manually reset with each new film, and the red plimsoll mark is quite endearing (an external mark of precision).

Pictures in another post, when they get back, as it were, from the chemist.

  1. Hey I know this is off topic but I was thinking if you knew of any widgets
I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my
newest twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.

  3. Heya, i ‘m a blogger just like you, and was wondering if you by chance tried those addthis.com follow this buttons and if they will be any good. I noticed they do load a ton of code, so i’m undecided
if its indeed worth adding them, due the raise of KB of the total filesize.
Have you ever tried it? I am excited to hear what you think about
that? I would highly value if you could sent me a message to cletahutchison@gmail.

  4. Hey there. I noticed your site title, “Minolta A5 rangefinder camera | PhotoDelusions” doesn’t really reflect the content of your website. When writing your site title, do you believe it’s most beneficial to write it for Website
positioning or for your visitors? This is one thing I’ve been battling with simply because I want great rankings but at the same time I want the best quality for my visitors.
