In memoriam

Filed under: personal — Howard @ 12:00 am

This chair has been sitting unrepaired ever since it came into our possession a couple of decades ago, pretty much in this broken-down state.

It belonged originally to my grandfather and it was given to him in 1953; he died just a few years later, when I was a small child, 50 years ago this year.

I have a few fond memories – being driven around in his car (a rare treat in those days). I always knew when I was arriving back home because coming down the long hill from Barnstaple to my home village, you could see the parish church across the valley at the top of the hill, and I’d cry “Church, maister!”.
