Headington Quarry Morris video

Filed under: Christmas, Headington Quarry, Morris Dancers, Oxford, video — Howard @ 2:03 pm

Famous for the encounter with Cecil Sharp on Boxing Day 1899 that sparked the modern English folk revival, Headington Quarry Morris Dancers put on a Boxing Day show most years. This one was filmed in 2007 outside the Mason’s Arms, Oxford, and features The Somerset Wassail, handbell ringing, a Mummers’ play, and a rapper sword dance.

Vodpod videos no longer available. from posted with vodpod

Apologies for the early truncation of the rapper sword dance; I have tried to make good with a couple of stills from an earlier blog post.
An earlier version of this post had links to low-res versions on YouTube – Part 1 and Part 2. This post updated 3 January 2008.
