Oxford Bonn Square protest

The proposed redevelopment of Bonn Square involves cutting down some fine trees to one side of the site. Not everyone agrees that this is a Good Thing. (The protest apparently ended today, 14 January.)

  1. Already with the trees cut down, the site is starting at last to llok like a real square for Oxford people to appreciate in the future.
Oxford is full of green spaces both public and private to enjoy, from the walks along its rivers to Christchurch Meadow where cows graze.
Bonn Square has been an eyesore for some time, at last, after years of consultation something is being done about it.
Those who now protest as you have pictured, I did not see at the many public meetings to discuss the subject.
If they want to influence the decision, it means a lot of hard work and effort, sitting on hard chairs through often boring meetings. Taking part in debates with well prepared arguments and costed solutions.
