Much of the site is a fanciful reconstruction by Arthur Evans, an approach that would not be tolerated today. Nevertheless it’s an impressive place to visit, the epitome of the ‘pleasure of ruins’.

This is pretty much the end of my sequence of pictures from Crete; time to move on.
